Bitter Sweetness

Tonight was the end of an era. Well, I guess we've been working up to this moment for a while now, but tonight it was official, Samantha is officially off the boob!

This really is a bitter sweet moment for me.

For one, I love that bond we share when she nurses. The way she holds my thumb with her tiny fingers and rests her other tiny hand against my back. The way she seems to just completely relax as soon as she begins to nurse. The fact that sometimes, all she wants to do is be comforted by our closeness.

On the other hand, I knew this day would come. When Samantha was born, my only hope was to nurse her until she was at least 3 months old, as many of my friends seemed to find that they could no longer nurse after this point. Then, it became 6 months, then a year.

Well, we are now at 14 months and tonight when she awoke from her sleep and couldn't resettle herself, I decided to try a warm bottle of Natrel Baboo instead of trying to nurse. At first, she would not take the bottle at all. Then I simply asked "Would you like some milk?" and her little voice whispered "Uh huh" and her tiny fingers reached for the bottle.

So, 5 oz later and my little snuggle bug, wrapped warmly in Nana's blanket and snuggled safely in my arms, was fast asleep.

I have to say though, my snuggles are becoming less and less frequent, so I absolutely fell in love all over again with my sweetness. I forgot how serene and angelic she can look when she is sleeping. So, to have experienced this newborn moment all over again was completely heart warming and a welcome change to our routine.

Sleep safely my love.

Samantha Gets Tamed!

Well, after recieving many comments, giggles and jokes about how wild and crazy Samantha's hair was, Josh and I decided it was time to get Samantha's hair cut for the very first time!
Well, for anyone who has been reading my blog, when Samantha gets or does a first...it's a big deal to me! So...what happened...I got suckered!

Baby's First Hair Cut Package $24.95!
Yup, you read that one right...$24.95+tax...frugal I was not!

But...she got to sit in a super cute pink vintage car!
And she got a certificate that I can put in her scrap book!
Well, I was sold but when Josh found out I was pretty much in the dog house.
Oh well, she looks cute, she had fun and her mane has been tamed.
